Interesting facts about your Cadillac Eldorado The first Cadillac Eldorado made its appearance as a special hand-built show car that appeared at the GM Motorama in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in 1952. It was the Golden Anniversary of the Cadillac Automobile Company (formed in 1902) and the Eldorado name was derived from El Dorado, the famed Spanish lost city of gold. This car had many advance design characteristics which would later appear on Cadillac production cars and on those of other manufacturers as well. The panoramic windshield and jet-like exhaust stacks through the rear bumper are just two of the many features. The following year a few of these cars were made on a special order and incorporated the design features of the original Eldorado.
